Email to recruit to social media platforms
SumOfUs’ efforts to recruit new Facebook supporters, via email
Below is a strong email from SumOfUs recruiting new Facebook followers, sent in January 2017. We love it!
Becky,
Did you know that the SumOfUs facebook page has over 100,000 followers from all over the world?
Are you one of them yet? If not, like us here.
By following the page you’ll be able to see stories from across the globe. Stories about communities banding together to fight corporations threatening their environment; consumers and shareholders working together to hold corporations to account and workers coming together to protect their employment rights.
And as well as hearing these inspirational stories, you can use Facebook to play your part too -- as social media is an effective way to take action and put pressure on corporations to put people before profits.
Using Facebook can really help us win campaigns. When we learned of the barbaric way angora rabbits were plucked of their long soft fur to make clothes, hundreds of SumOfUs members posted on the Facebook walls of major fashion retailers Zara, Topshop and ASOS. Very quickly the companies responded by committing to stop selling angora. Major win!
Liking and following the SumOfUs page will mean you can look forward to daily updates and posts on issues that matter to you. We can’t possibly email you about every campaign that is happening in the SumOfUs community -- that would be a lot of emails! But we do post about them all on Facebook. You’ll get to see breaking news of petition deliveries and protests as they happen as well as our new short videos, infographics and images. It’s a great way to keep in touch.
Here’s three things you might have missed recently by not following us on Facebook:
1. This video of five SumOfUs wins in 2016
2. An article explaining how giant multinational Google avoids paying its fair share of tax on its global earnings
3. This video exposing which corporations are set to get very rich under a Drumpf presidency
With thousands of people liking, commenting on and sharing these stories, Facebook is still the number one way we can reach more people. By simply sharing one of our posts, people who may never otherwise hear about SumOfUs can get involved too, and in that way we build a stronger and bigger movement to take on corporate power. Your friends will take notice of what you share -- if you care, chances are they will too!
Will you join the community on Facebook and help spread the word to your friends?
We’re working together to challenge growing corporate power so we can create a better world to protect people, our environment and workers’ rights. Everything you do - big or small - adds up to really make difference.
Thanks for all that you do,
Sondhya, Carys, Nicole, Reem and the team at SumOfUs.
P.S: Not on Facebook? Don’t worry! We’ll still email you with our biggest campaigns, with loads of ways to take action and stay involved.
